William Henry Eustis papers, 1923-1925.

The collection includes correspondence commending Mr. Eustis for his gifts and letters about the testimonial dinner given in his honor on Oct. 7,1925. Also included are his speech at that testimonial dinner, notes for another speech, a leather book of appreciation, a folder of pictures and a folder of clippings. Two additional folders contain an unpublished manuscript of a book on Spain.

William Henry Eustis (1845-1928) was a noted philanthropist and beloved citizen of Minneapolis. He came to Minnesota in 1881 while prospecting and built a large fortune through real estate acquisitions. Disabled due to an accident while he was a teen, Eustis gave much of his fortune to charity, especially the Dowling School in Minneapolis, which cared for crippled children.
